Why do we need a Privacy Policy?

Our privacy policy lets you know what information is being collected, how it is being used and why.

UK German Shepherd Rescue Angels (UK-GSR) is a breed specific dog rescue charity that rescues dogs across England and Wales.

We are registered with the Charities Commission, Registered Charity Number 1160745.

We are also a not for profit company registered with Companies House, registration number 07664845

UK German Shepherd Rescue is committed to protecting your privacy.

What information do we collect and how is it collected?

When you complete on our website forms we will collect basic information about you which includes but not limited to your name, postal address, email address, age and telephone numbers.

If you donate or make a payment to us via our website, we will collect basic information which includes your name and email address and our external payment collection service namely PayPal will also collect your payment information, yo can see Appal cy policy via their website. If you agree to Gift Aid or you are purchasing an item from our shop, we will also collect your home address, so we can claim the Gift Aid or post items out to you.

Unlike other websites the UK German Shepherd Rescue does not track your visit or collect any national formation about you.

What do we do with the information that you give us?

We will only use your information to contact to service your request, these request include adoption, volunteering or rehoming your dog.

We will use your information to process any payments or orders you have made and claim any Gift Aid, where applicable.

How long do we keep the information you give us?

If you adopt or rehome a dog through our rescue, we will keep your information on file for duration for the lifetime of the dog no nolonger than 12 years. We will keep your information on for the life of the dog in case we need to contact you regarding the dog.

If you foster or volunteer for us will keep your information on file as long as you remain an active volunteer.

We will keep information on any payments made to us in accordance with the law regarding financial record keeping and Gift Aid claims. We will keep any other personal information you have shared with us for no longer than 90 days, unless you have explicitly consented to us contacting you further.

How do we share, store, protect and process your information?

We will not sell on your personal information to others. Your information will be securely stored and access restricted. We will only pass your information to one of our trusted volunteers to carry out a home check or assess your dog for rehoming. Your personal information may be passed with your permission to your vet for references.

Failed home checks, should you fail your home we will keep your information on file for one year for cross checking further applications, we may share your home check information with other rescues for the interest of animal safety and prevent mistreat of animals.

We may use service providers who provide IT and system administration services to process and store data, such as web hosting, email services and database storage. These providers are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and based in the EEA, in countries recognised as providing adequate data protection by The European Commission or are in the US but are part of the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.

What are your rights?

In accordance with UK and European law under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to view, amend or delete any of the personal information that we hold about you.

Credit and the other Payment Card Information

Payment details, including name, surname, billing address and debit and credit card information, submitted to UK German shepherd Rescue ("Payment Details") will be processed by our online payment provider PayPal who will process, store and transfer such information outside of the EU in accordance with its own privacy policy. Please note that the UK German Shepherd Rescue does not accept any responsibility or liability for Cyber Source's privacy policy. By submitting your Payment Details you consent to such transfer, storage and processing by PayPal. All payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology. UK German Shepherd Rescue and Paypal will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely. Certain Payment Details will be retained by UK German Shepherd Rescue for administrative and legal purposes and will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy. These Payment Details will be stored on PayPal servers for approximately 6 months after the expiration of any purchased vouchers and thereafter the Payment Details will be deleted from the PayPal servers.

UK German Shepherd Rescue is not responsible for the content of external internet sites. You are advised to read the privacy policy of external sites before disclosing any personal information.


A "cookie" is a small data text file that is placed in your browser and allows websites to recognize you each time you visit thier site(customisation etc). Cookies themselves do not contain any personal information, and UK German Shepherd Rescue does not use cookies to collect personal information. Cookies may also be used by 3rd party content providers such as newsfeeds.

While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to UK German Shepherd Rescue and you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords or other account information. In addition other Internet sites or services that may be accessible through UK German Shepherd Rescue have separate data and privacy practices independent of us, and therefore we disclaim any responsibility or liability for their policies or actions.
